Abstract
Introduction: RMGI (resin modified glass inomer) as a restorative dental material is being used in
patients with high caries risk. Clinical situations may necessitate a surface smoothening
or roughening procedure (polishing, repairs).A clinical scale for such surface
modification would be a useful value.
Aim of the study: Using Diagnodent
values of methyle-ne blue painted RMGI samples as a
scale for surface roughness measurement
Materials and methods: 80 RMGI samples
divided in 4 groups. In three groups surface of samples were treated by using
composite disks with different colors. In 4th group samples
treated by a diamond bur. After surface roughness measurement by Profilometer, samples immersed in methylene blue solution
and Diagnodent va-lues were
recorded.
Conclusion: Diagnodent values and Roughness values recorded by profilometer were significantly different (P <0.05) between groups of study.there was a direct relation between Dvalues and roughness measurements in each group of this study.
