Abstract
Introduction: For so many years, the way the
periodontal disease has been diagnosed, treated and maintained has suffered
many changes and modifications because of the appearance of different
instruments and techniques. Until now, the conventional way of dealing with the
periodontal diseases included a first stage of the treatment (non surgical
approach) and a second stage of the treatment (surgical approach) wich is necessary in most of the moderate or advanced
stages of the pe-riodontal diseases. With the use of
different types of lasers, many of the cases in wich
a second stage of the treatment should be needed,
could be treated without the need of a surgical procedure.
In this study, we present a new way of
treating those remaining pockets without the need of a surgical procedure. This
approach to treat the periodontal pockets with laser will prevent the vast majorityof the surgical treatments needed when the conventional
technique is used to treat the 4 to 6 mm residual pockets
Aim of the study: The aim of this study is to
reduce the number of periodontal flap surgeries in order to give the patients a
less invasive and more confortable treatment by using
this diode laser.
Objective: To measure the depth of the
periodontal pockets before and after the laser treatment in order to quantify
the reduction of the pockets after each laser application.
